ive finally found me a great looking skin after looking around in blogskins for like 2 days. the drawing of the dude isnt done by me of cos, but get this: the black backgrounds u see behind the texts was done by me using my photoshop limited edition haha. yes, me the photoshop idiot who has never touched photoshop b4. the original skin was just the guy sitting on the chair, and thin black lines forming a box around the text, with the words "carving me" and "bleeding". i tot it was kinda boring and too emo haha, so i used photoshop to 'blanco' out the words. but then i got ambitious and tot of putting my own background. at first i tot of just putting a black backgroud inside the box, but one thing led to another, and after discovering the smudge tool in photoshop, i didnt look back hah.

ok so about the trip to thailand...here's some things i learnt:

1) it is freaking hot in bangkok. i was sweating wherever i went, the worse was of cos chatuchak market in the day. i think the heat has something to do with the level of polution. there are hardly any trees in bangkok, and i think the polution from the thousands of vehicles traps the heat somehow. the polution is so bad that my nose shit is much darker than in singapore. yes do dig ur nose in bangkok next time and check it ou. and i did that in the shower la b4 u go 'eeeewww'.

2) the roads are a challenge to drive on. there was a road with 3 lanes and 1 going the other direction. and if u wanted to get to the other lane, u had to drive thru numerous narrow alleys just to get there. everybody weaves in and out of lanes, and tuk-tuks will gladly drive into the oncoming lane to overtake others.

3) dun drink lime juice there, or even iced tea. i stubbornly tried lime juice 3 times, even after the 1st was overly sour. the other 2 were a combination of sour/salty/sweet. just drink good ol' coke. it comes in a cool retro bottle which u dun find anymore in spore. and the food portions ain't as big too, but still, their tom yam soup and phad thai are the real thing.

4) pattaya's beaches isnt as good as it's supposed to be. it looks just like east coast. sentosa looks better. we figured one of the nearby islands would offer the clear blue sea and snowy white sand that is often pictured in brochures, but none of that was to be seen. maybe it was because it was raining when we were on our way to Kho Lan island, but nevertheless, we still had fun just lazing in the water (after coming up with really dumb games with 1x pink ball that we bought).

5) pattaya is a one-stop male ang-moh looking for a companion (read: sex partner) centre. thai girls, thai boys, thai girly-boys, thai boyish-girls, they're all sought after by the ang-mohs. most of the white males look like army/navy boys, with their crew cut hairstyles (i suddenly thot of the soccer practice vid...). the streets are filled with pubs flaunting thai women flaunting watever they have (whether they have something extra, i wouldn't know). but the atmosphere at nite makes u feel like ur on a holiday, with loud chatter and laughter, roadside stalls selling wares and live bands in almost every pub.

6) the thais respect their king alot. to the point that they have a video of him screened jus b4 a movie starts, and everyone stands still throughout the duration of the vid. how do i know this? cos we watched 2 movies over in pattaya haha. one entertaining melodramatic thai movie (entertaining because we went in expecting it to be a comedy, and towards the middle of the show, the plot went out of hand and becaming highly amusing), the other was Hostage, the bruce willis movie.

7) KFC is cheap and tastes better over there. and we ate that for the last 3 days, even in bangkok airport coming back. overkill man.

8) sitting in a budget airline is one of the most boring things u can do. nothing to read, nothing to see/listen to, food and drinks have to be purchased.

ok pictures are here. check out mel's photoblog for more pics.

ok back home for good for the hols, and jus to sidetrack alittle, i DO NOT have a new electric guitar or projector or 2 huge speakers. turns out my uncle only gave us some damn chairs, a tv/hi-fi rack, one huge pointless mirror and a couple of paintings. and my mum made it sound like there's so many changes, and that i should look forward to it. bahhhh. ok back to the point, i'm missing the joys of being on the network: the super fast speeds and the supply of movies and shows, and the convenience of fong seng. but come to think of it, i really couldn't have stayed on much longer as my room was at the brink of inhabitable-ness (is there such a word?): superbly dusty floor and fan, unwashed bedsheet and comforter, squashed flies on the wall (there was an invasion one nite after the rain), and practically every surface i touched would leave a blackish residue on my fingers. i think the last time i swept the floor was about 2 months ago. well, its nice to have a cleaner room and more comfortable bed now anyway, so no complains there. bonus points for having a tv in the room too heh.

speaking of television, have u seen the latest teasers for the upcoming variety show called hot woks and foodie talks i think. if there's one way to ensure high ratings for a show, or at least ensure a high initial viewership rating, it's to make fiona xie the host, and plaster her face all over the teasers. AND for that additional punch, make her run around with michelle chia. that teaser has fiona xie prancing all over singapore with some who-cares-which-other-celebrity, and it also has her eating god-knows-what. the last scene shows her close up, staring straight at the camera as she puts a prawn in her mouth...in SLOW MOTION. yes its blatant selling of sex appeal, and i'm bought over. all she needs to do is suck on a prawn.

"hey, im gonna catch that show."
