technology has sure come a long way when you look at how it affects human interaction.
First the telephone allowed ppl to talk to each other over long distances, albeit not face-to-face. That distance increased as the telephone and its networks grew more sophisticated, and more ppl were connected all over the world. but society still appreciated face-to-face interaction: the nuances one gets from reading facial expressions, having the physical company of someone when you're feeling down, the touch or hug from a loved one.
then phones became mobile, and ppl became constantly in touch with friends and family, society grew even more connected. your loved ones were easily reached at the press of a button. the onslaught of the internet came around the same time as the prevalence of the mobile phone. video conferencing was developed. now ppl could SEE who they were talking to, thus bringing back the nuanced aspect of human interaction, but still lacking the human touch, literally. I suppose the next step is to bring in the human touch aspect, but tt would mean developing teleportation devices.
but look at us now: internet messaging programs like MSN have taken away the aural and visual aspect of human interaction, and we rely on 'emoticons' to express our emotions.
and i fear that comment boxes, with the ability to type more words than tagboards, will replace internet messaging programs when it comes to online communications.
we have indeed devolved from the telephone to typing in that small little window that pops up on our computer screen.

why anyone would want to hijack a tagboard is beyond me.
